Dhanusha Sewa Samiti (DSS) was established in 1992 in Dhanusha district with the mission to empower the disadvantaged people and their civic organizations to achieve sustainable and equitable development. Read More

Major Achievements

  • DSS has led different high-level meetings with the Prime Minister and the Home Minister of Nepal for Conflict Transformation.
  • DSS’s 'Regional Dialogue Forum’ is used by social and political stakeholders as a neutral space to discuss contentious issues of Province No. 2 for conflict transformation.
  • DSS has built its own building with its saving fund and the communities’ labor’s contribution.
  • Reproductive Health Centre and Safe Motherhood Program have continued since 2000.
  • Badhari Cooperative has grown to a financial institution with NRS. 500,000,00 annual turnovers.
  • Established more than 300 saving & credit groups where some of these groups have more than NRS. 200,000,00 annual turnovers.
  • Organic farming (pesticide control, livestock promotions & production, organic vegetation, fodder production, improved cattle-shed) promoted among more than 100 farmers in private, riverside wastage land, community forest and public land.
  • DSS established a Chilling Centre in Laxminiwas VDC that collects milk from farmers of nearby villages and sells it to Dairy Development Corporation of Nepal Government.
  • DSS has promoted in breeding Boer Goats in Mithili Municipality.
  • DSS built more than 18 drinking water schemes of dug well and overhead tanks and more than 500 toilets in Dhanusha and Sindhuli districts.
  • DSS established Women Rights Groups in more than 5 villages and 1 at the district level.
  • DSS established Land Rights Forum in more than 5 villages and 1 at the district level.
  • DSS established 13 education cooperatives in 13 Public Schools of Government of Nepal. The cooperative fund was utilized for the betterment of schools.
