Dhanusha Sewa Samiti (DSS) was
established in 1992 in Dhanusha district
with the mission to empower the
disadvantaged people and their civic
organizations to achieve sustainable and
equitable development. Affiliated with the
Social Welfare Council in 1992 and a
member of NGO Federation of Nepal,
Dhanusha district since 1994, DSS has
worked in 90 VDCs amongst 101 VDCs of
Dhanusha. It has also worked in some VDCs
of Mahottari and Sindhuli districts.
As a
leading community based organization in
the district, DSS has been appreciated by
several organizations and Government of
Nepal (GoN). DSS has been appreciated by
District Development Committee as one of
the leading NGOs in Dhanusha.
The international NGO, GPUK has
commended DSS for invaluable services and
cooperation extended in planning and
implementing the Drinking Water Project in
2000.
Further, District Office of Ministry
of Forestry and Soil Conservation
applauded DSS for its outstanding services
in 2005. It was also been awarded with
'RANA SAMUNDRA BAM AWARD 2003' for
its outstanding service and contribution in
the field of Tuberculosis control.
