Dhanusha Sewa Samiti (DSS) is a grassroots level award winning local Non-Government Organization (NGO) operating in Dhanusha District, Nepal since 1992. It was affiliated with the Social Welfare Council in 1993 and obtained membership of NGO Federation of Nepal, Dhanusha District in 1994.
As a premier NGO, it has left a deep impact among the poor, marginalized communities and women. Nepal Weekly Magazine of 21 November 2010 has following statement to make:
"Bengadawar is a village with extreme shortage of drinking water supply. In the active participation of people, Dhanusha Sewa Samiti (DSS) through its drinking water projects have supplied water to each household. There are health services available to each villager. Safe motherhood program has been implemented in each household. And farmers are expanding their source of income through organic vegetable farming [Vol. 11, No. 14; p. 16]."
DSS is an inclusive NGO. The chairperson of DSS is Ms. Ganga Balampaki, Janjati young women. Apart of that, out of 8 members, its board has 4 Women, 1 Dalit, 1 Janjatis and 1 Madhesi members. The following table reflects DSS board composition.

Leadership in social or community activities/ led in movements :
DSS has been working with Dalit, landless, poor and women in Dhanusha district. The national paper, Annapurna Post, has reported its work against domestic violence. DSS facilitated the formation of Women's Rights Forum at the village level since 2005 to advance women's rights by enhancing the leadership capacity to participate in different forums for women.
As a result, 675 women are organized against violence against women, 34 women have raise their profile as right activists and defenders, 117 women have received property land certificate and 1399 women have raised their access to natural resources. Similarly, DSS has helped form land rights forum where landless, particularly Dalit and Janjatis have been involved.
